The Gas Man
As we live close to the sea in a humid climate, there are a lot of bugs here, especially mosquitoes. The exterminator around here is the gas man. Our site pays 45 lira twice a week to have the gas man walk through our neighborhood. We can always hear him coming. He has a pack on his back with a hose out front, kind of like a leaf-blower guy, except he is wearing a mask over his face. An exhaust-like gas blows out of his hose and within minutes all of the bugs around fall to the ground dead. When we hear him coming, we rush about closing windows and doors and covering food if we are still outside eating dinner.

Lisa,
ReplyDeleteYou haven't posted anything in a while. I see you all are in for higher than normal heat this weekend. I'm reading in Hurriyet. Any chance you could get me a Turkish language newspaper? If there is a CHEAP scandal sheet available for a buck or less I'd love to have one. I can send you the postage and you could mail it when you get back to Oregon. But, don't bother if it would be trouble.
We are having it warm here and a little more humid than I'd like but it is bringing rain which cools everything down.
Hope all is well. Phil
Phil,
ReplyDeleteYes, I've been busy. We are now in Istanbul for 6 days, but it is pretty hot and humid, so we are just hanging out. I don't have a lot of time to write now. I will probably make most of my updates to my blog when we return to Oregon and I have more time. I will look into getting you a paper, but you won't be able to read it...
Lisa
Lisa,
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot. I will look forward to enjoying the paper and I will learn a little Turkish in the process. Something with scandalous headlines would be fun.
Glad all is well. I will look forward to further entries! You all have fun. Phil
