Introduction

When I first met my husband in 1992, like the typical American, I knew very little about the country Turkey.  I knew it was in the Middle East (though, there is a lot of debate about whether it is considered Middle Eastern or European) and was a Muslim country and that was about it.  Fortunately I hadn't seen Oliver Stone's Midnight Express, so I didn't have any negative preconceived ideas about the country.

Since then I've visited Turkey four times and we are going again this summer.  We have a house there and all of my husband Nev's family live there.  Turkey is an amazing country.  It is beautiful, full of history, unique as it is the only country to rest on two continents, and is known for its friendly, loving people.

In this blog I want to share my experiences visiting Turkey and what I've learned about Turkish culture living with a Turkish husband and being immersed in the culture during all of our trips.
